šŸ—£Tell them about the dream

Weā€™re coming up on the end of the yearā€¦isnā€™t that crazy?! If thereā€™s one thing that 2022 has taught me, itā€™s thatĀ you have to dream out loud.

Iā€™m not just talking about Selena Gomezā€™s clothing line eitherā€¦

When I say dream out loud, I mean that you have to tell some trusted people you know about your dream so they can help you push you into your moment when the time is right. Hereā€™s what I meanā€¦

In 1963 in the not-so-small town of Washington DC, Mahalia Jackson joined Martin Luther King Jr. to do something they had routinely done. He asked her to open at what would become the historicĀ March on WashingtonĀ by singing, “I’ve Been ‘Buked, and I’ve Been Scorned.” Ms. Jackson was there on time and sang, but her purpose at that moment was not yet fulfilled.

When Dr. King began his speech that day at the Lincoln Memorial, Mahalia Jackson felt he needed to pivot and had the courage to push him in the right direction. In the recordings,Ā you can hear Mahalia Jackson say,Ā “Tell them about the dream, Martin.”

Upon hearing her suggestion, he pivoted and soon spoke those infamous four words, “I have a dream…” and the rest is history.Ā You can read about it here.

What if Mahalia Jackson decided not to sing that day or what if Dr. King never shared his dream with her?!

Thank God we’ll never know.

So, now I ask you: have you shared your dreams? Do you need to tell it on the mountain tops or do you need to start by speaking it out loud until you can believe it for yourself? Consider this your personal “Mahalia Jackson Moment.” If you want to start by telling someone,Ā hitĀ reply and you can share with me.

I’ll also be going live onĀ InstagramĀ tonight at 6:45ishĀ CST and you can stop by and drop your dream in the chat. The last time I went live, we talked about TikTok, cappin’ on social media, and Patreon – don’t worry, you’ll fit right in.

Keep dreaming, Reader. You never know when you’ll have a Mahalia Jackson in your corner who helps push you into your moment.

I hope to see you tonight onĀ InstagramĀ at 6:45pm CST, but if I miss you there, I’ll be in your inbox again soon.

Always speak life,

Vannesia
